This place is absolutely great. The staff are very welcoming and try to make you feel at home. Although I didn't partake, they often make dinner together and eat like a family. One night, a group of us went to a house party in the Mission, which was awesome. As someone who has been to many hostels, I can safely say this place is one of those good hostels that you can make friends at.
this was my first experience in a hostel. by the time my stay was over. i had made true friends.
very good hostel, friendly staff and very welcoming, the Inn is perfectly situated to enjoy the city! highly recommend it, plus it's really cheap!
The lounge and all are upstairs while our room was downstairs so it was rather quiet at night which was good. Lights go off at 11pm though so best to bring a torch along :) Great was laundry service was offered by the hostel itself for just 7USD so I don't have to spend time looking for one or doing them myself. No breakfast is offered though

I can't begin to tell you how impressed I was with Pacific Tradewinds as a hub to begin exploring San Francisco. The staff is ridiculously friendly, knowledgeable, approachable, and fun, not to mention a great group to party with at the bar or on their rooftop. The hostel attracts young people of all creeds and nationalities, and the common-area and free internet stations are located and laid out to promote meeting fellow travelers. Thanks, PT!
Perfect location, just one block from china town and close to the Muni and Bart station. Awesome staff, all the time available to help, with great general knowledge of Frisco, and always ready to bring the guest to the right place! Clean and secure, with personal lockers in each room. Enjoyable living and absolutely easy to find friends and fun! I've been in many other hostels around the world, and I didn't find any major problems in the Pacific Tradewinds. I'd definatly recommend it.
Really great hostel. Pretty small, so everyone gets to know everyone, and it's a really friendly place to be. The staff were really helpful and accomodating, and they all interacted with all the guests. The only thing I would say is that a couple of the rooms are right adjascent to the common room, which can be pretty loud in the middle of the night, though that never bothered me. But it can be whatever you want it to be. You can just chill out there, or you can have big crazy nights drinking.
