I have never stayed in a hostel before. After my stay at Pacific Tradewinds, I would completely recommend it to anyone coming to the city.
Great hostel. Lovely people. Clean. Helpful staff. I LOVED lights out and quiet time after 12. That was great.
i really enjoyed my stay in this place. where u can get a clean towel everyday like in a hotel. clean, comfort bed without any noisy sound that usually comes from the bunk bed. i would recommend this place to u guys who look for an affordable place to stay in sf. best of luck guys!!
Good location for the main tourist stuff. A 25 min bus/taxi ride to Castro for the gay clubbing though. Good communal vibe and staff are pleasant if a but aloof. They keep the place clean and you can see them cooking every night. Common area is great as are the super fast computers. Excellent kitchen to cook your own food too.
Great hostel. I stayed here in 2006 as well & it was as good as I remembered. Staff were helpful & friendly when I arrived. Also, I emailed to cancel my 2nd night the day before I was due to arrive and they were fine about it - didn't charge a fee, which was good of them. The place has a really nice, relaxed atmosphere despite the city centre location. Will definitely think of Pacific Tradewinds next time I'm in San Francisco.

I very much like the boat feeling and appearance of the hostel. I think it is very suitable with the building. the layout and the vibe of the hostel. It makes it very special and enjoyable.

The people, the hostel, the experience, everything was excellent, this was the best experience i had on my life.. i spent 2 weeks on this hostel and i made another short trip and i went back to the same hostel... I definetly recommend it.. worths every cent, the staff became my friends in the first days, its on the best part of the city... its pretty safe.. The beds are very confortable ( doesn't do any noise! which is a great thing for a 6 - 8 bed room), you have a kitchen with everything you need, clean restrooms, fast wifi...
