What an awesome place to stay. Inexpensive and very accommodating. The staff is friendly and available to help with any need that might arise. Lots of cool personalities rolling through daily.
The hostel and staff facilitated social interaction and I made wonderful "temporary friendships." The communal feeling there was the highlight of my trip.

Actually I thought that it was SO clean that I wandered around without any shoes - have never done that at any hostels ever before!!! And I fell a sleep very quicly feeling very comfortable in the need and very clean bed - THANKS!
There are a few different kinds of hostels. Some that make you feel like you're in a hotel. It's nice but it's not the hostel experience - or the hostel price. Some that make you feel like a squatter in someone elses house. They're smelly, ramshackle pits of despair that see you as a moving sack of meat with a backpack and a wallet to spend on their sh!#ty hostel. And the rare occasion - some that give you the comfort and feeling of home in a completely new environment. Pacific Tradewinds is this. Friendly + attentive staff, great atmosphere and all you could need.

Tradewinds is an excellent hostel. I like enjoyed how friendly the staff are and how invloved they become in conversations with their guests.
I really enjoyed my stay. I liked the fact that it was a smaller backpackers. Everyone was fun and ready for a party but it was well controlled and if one wanted an early night no one bothered you.
I enjoyed my stay tremendously. Really everything a traveller might need, very well oranized and everything you might need is handy. Definitely recommend the hostel and will surely try to return whenever I'm in San Francisco!!

Loved that there was a book exchange, it meant I could leave behind guides I knew would be of no use back home.
I've stayed in a number of hostels all aound europe and US and his was by far the best experience. Your place stands above the rest in homeliness, friendliness, cleanliness and community. Plus, the kitchen was better equipped than my own home, fantastic!
