Superb little hostel in the heart of SF. Very accommodating, understanding and patient, particularly with my unusual requests to swap some nights around in the middle of my stay. Great community. And the place is spotless. Would definitely return.
Staff and energy there was out of this world. Place was designed perfectly for interaction and all of it was genuine. I've been to hundreds of hostels all around the world and this is the best one, by a long shot. Close to North Beach too! OMG, so glad that I didn't stay at a hostel in the Tenderloin. Ewww.
Absolutely amazing hostel! The staff are SO knowledgable, they have so many recommendations that make your time in SF unforgettable. The hostel is perfectly located and is the perfect place to make great friends with like minded people. I would recommend PTW to anyone visiting SF, you will have a tough time leaving!
Fantastic team! A travellers haven! Like a home away from home! Very comfortable and a great atmosphere. By far the most social hostel I've stayed in whilst in the USA. Yet they have the perfect balance between making everyone feel involved and ensuring there is minimum disturbance to guests who need their rest.
I had an interview in FiDi, so the location was perfect. The hostel is friendly, clean, and showcases a lot of innovative ways to maximize space. I met some interesting travelers and learned a few new card games as well. If you're an early riser like me, I'd recommend using a headlamp to avoid waking up your roommates. I got a hot shower, some imperial roles at the Golden Star, and a good night's sleep. What more could you want? I'll definitely return the next time I'm in town!
Great place to spend your nights (and time) if you are in a tight budget. Pacific Tradewinds offers all the basic needs for a traveler including of course a great open community and staff that are willing to help you solve any problem you may have. From little things like washing your socks at night, selling padlocks (cheap) if you did not bring one, peanut butter and bread available all day, to big things like having clear rules of behavior, specially at night make the experience of staying there really nice. Welcoming environment and also, they gave some soap when I didn't have any!

I had a fantastic experience at this hostel. It is in a good location, the staff is really fun, friendly and very helpful. I asked for a room change and it was no problem at all. Everything was very clean, the beds are very clean and there is a lockbox for your luggage. They also host cool social events and there is always somebody to chill out with.
Very friendly and amazing community, right in the center of San Francisco, so easy to get to different places. I spent Christmas with staff and people who were staying in Hostel those days. People from different places with different culture background get together and hang out, and it was good to know different things and be thankful for what we have that night. I met girls in our dorm rooms, and we build friendship, share stories and feelings, hang out in San Francisco, and even keep in touch after we left there. It was nice to have people around when you are traveling alone.
