This is an awesome Hostel. The staff are smart, welcoming individuals and as a result there is a real relaxed 'family vibe' despite the fleeting and forever changing travellers hostels bring. One of the best Hostels I've stayed at.
It was within walking distance of many landmarks, as well as the cable car lines. The staff were really great in helping create plans for a day in terms of things to do, places to eat, and how to get around (where to rent a bike for a day). Overall it made my stay in SF much more enjoyable than if I had stayed in a hotel, and saved money as well.
I absolutely loved my stay at Pacific Tradewinds. It was a cute Hostel, but the best part was the staff. They are really open to questions, have great suggestions on where to go, share experiences, and are willing to help in any way. It is located right by China town and North Beach, a great place to take in the city and get some culture.
This was my first hostel experience on my own in a new city, and I can think of no other way to comment on this hostel except that you need to buy a ticket to san francisco and stay here. there were no shortcomings. friendly, interesting people, an immediate openness, comfortable beds with clean linen, great location to start exploring from. stay at this hostel.

Cette petite auberge de jeunesse située entre Downtown et Chinatown est définitivement l’endroit à choisir. C’est en offrant un verre d’eau qu’on vous accueil. J’y suis restée 8 agréables nuits. L’endroit est très propre, safe, tranquille (rue pas trop achalandée) et le staff fait que son séjour reste mémorable. Chaleureux, ils vous invitent à diverses activités pour vous faire découvrir un autre côté de la vie à SF. Idéal pour groupes ou personnes seuls qui désirent socialiser. J’ai adoré.

This is a great hostel. Good place to meet people since the reception, kitchen and common room are more or less in the same room.
Good wellsupplied kitchen, great location, bunk beds that don't shake and rattle, wi-fi and AMAZING staff!

I arrived at 11:45pm on a sunday, I received a warm welcome, offered a glass of water, check in with minimal fuss, given lots of info about the city and also invited out for a quick drink.
I've stayed at a lot of hostel in my 7 months of traveling and this is one of the nicest. Rooms were clean at all times, big lockers to put my stuff in, comfortable beds and just a general good vibe.
Pacific Tradewinds ticks all the boxes a traveller needs when looking for a hostel, and then some. It's the staff who really make the difference, being incredibly socialble and welcoming to every single guest, going out of their way to help us, provide info, even help organise nights out and generally creating a really lovely and warm atmospehere. muchos credit to the team.
