This hostel rocks. The atmosphere and the staff cannot be beaten for sheer friendliness and fun. The place is clean and safe and the location is brilliant. Stay here if you come to SF and want to have fun and laughs complete with security and so much help with anything you need or want for your stay. :) love it.

There is no hostel to beat Pacific Tradewinds in SF. The place is small, cosy, and the flights of steps up to it build a sense of anticipation (and one's leg muscles too) that is well rewarded. Run by an extraordinary number of people all with the name Dave (even Shelley is a Dave at heart)it is the perfect place to relax in good company and secure helpful bits of information, even if your name isn't Dave. Dave, the owner is clearly the Repository of all SF Knowledge. Top marks.

Best hostel i've ever stayed in

The staff was excellent! Very kind and very helpful! The only thing I'd change is I would have a cozier/bigger common area, though I'm not sure if having a bigger common area is possible.

I was going camping and they lent some gear to us including a tent and sleeping bag on trust, not even asking that we return it. We did return it, by the way, plus some extras. Nice people.
