This was my first time staying at a hostel and I absolutely enjoyed it. The hostel is clean, comfortable, has clean restrooms and a maintained kitchen. My roommates were from Kenya, Japan, India , China and the US. I had fun discussions with them. The neighborhood is China town which is very lively and safe. The location is also very close to the local bus/train stations if one wants to explore SF. Particularly it’s just a half hour walk to the fishermen’s wharf/golden gate area. Happily recommended.

This is the perfect place to crash for a night or even more! It's downtown, and a walkable distance from a lot of stuff in the financial district and some restaurants. I totally felt safe as a single female traveler! Also, if you plan on staying here, bring a lock for your stuff because you can lock it all up if you want and go exploring without worrying about it!

Staying at a hostel is a very social experience. I was only there very briefly, but everyone I met (hosts and guests) was warm and friendly. I got great local tips and some interesting conversation. The common space, my shared room and bathroom were all clean, well-maintained and comfortable. I definitely appreciated the value for money, you couldn't find another place at this location and price. For other travelers who (like me) have not stayed at a hostel before, I'd recommend giving it a shot. A word of advice for light sleepers: earbuds.
