I rarely love my stay at a hostel, but I did so at Darren&Friends. While the accommodations are pretty basic (for this price what can you expect in SF), this is just the friendliest of places that does just right what a traveller would look for: access to good kitchen, clean bathrooms, really great vibe. The location is fantastic, the place feels safe, other guests were considerate, the staff was unbelievably helpful, they are very friendly and relaxed.

“Our stay at this hostel was very pleasant and convenient. The distance to the piers and the embarcadero is quite short and only a few minutes footwalk away. Plus we met a bunch of nice people there too. Also, every guest has his personal locker so make sure you bring your own lock in case there aren't any left at the reception! Loved the community vibe.”
