It's a really cool hostel, and quite cheap considering how good the area is. It's clean with a good common room.
The hostel made my trip to San Francisco so much better; everyone was so friendly and helpful. Really nice place to hang out and meet good people.

Without sounding gushy, this hostel is truely amazing and i am gutted to leave. Dave and all the staff are soooo friendly and the week i spent there was like a weekend with old mates. The kitchen is great to cook in, the internet is free and fast and everyone there talks, hangs out, drinks and become instant friends. No kidding - best hostel in USA.
Just wanted to drop you a note regarding my stay at Tradewinds this last weekend. First of all this was my second stay at your hostel and again I had a very pleasant experience. The staff were fun and very helpful giving directions, looking up sites and restaurants in the city plus giving their own insights on where to go. All of the tips turned out to be great. Sorry we were not able to participate in the basketball game on Sunday hope you had a great time. Anyway I enjoyed to kick back atmosphere. Hope to stay with you again. Perhaps for longer next time.

Great location, friendly people
This hostel is fantastic! Once you've done your workout getting up the stairs you are greeted by friendly, knowledgeable staff who are more than happy to help you get settled and answer any questions you may have about the city. The beds are comfortable, the bathrooms are super clean with great showers, the free internet is very handy and the new kitchen has more utensils than you'll ever need! The organised nights out are good fun and are a great way to meet new people.
The Trade winds is a fantastic hostel, The staff are great and make you feel so welcome as soon as you open the door. I was going to stay for one night, but have decieded to stay for a week or so. Friendly atmosphere, clean and like one big home with a group of new friends.
