PTW Attracts Genuinely Friendly Sociable People

I initially had reservations about this hostel. I had arrived late from a very long flight, manoeuvring my way through Chinatown with a heavy bag, tired, finally having to climb 4 flights of stairs, to find a very small hostel, absolutely packed with no privacy whatsoever. HOWEVER, the next day I sat down for the free PBJ sandwiches and coffee and immediately started conversations with solo travellers from all over the world. The staff are so friendly and make such a huge effort to make you feel welcome. We had a movie night whilst I was there and it felt like such a nice little community, about 20 people packed into this tiny common room. Be warned though, the dorms are very small and basic, there really is no privacy, however my dorm mates were very respectful and we got on really well. This hostel seems to attract genuinely friendly, sociable people! I ended up having a fantastic time here. If you like having your own space and feel uncomfortable talking to people you've just met and having to walk through reception to use the bathroom in your pjs or towel then this hostel is not for you.. however if you're looking for a real San Francisco experience with a group of genuinely fun people then this is the hostel is the place to go. Massive shoutout to the staff for making me feel so welcome, even though I was only there a couple of nights! :)
