The Friendliness of the Staff was Amazing and the Sense of Community was Palpable at PTW

This was my first time staying at a hostel. The friendliness of the staff was amazing, and the sense of community was palpable. I met people from all over the world, made connections and got to learn about their countries, cultures, and lives. There was plenty of opportunity for chitchat, including movie nights and little parties. The hostel is only about a 15 minute walk from Market St., and public transportation options abound. I walked or rode to the Mission, Telegraph Hill, Bernal Heights, Twin Peaks, and even made it all the way out to Land's End on the 38 - the only time I had to Lyft was when the BART closed after midnight from Oakland. Close by, you can get an amazing view of the city just by walking up Sacramento to get to Nob Hill. I walked around at all hours of the night and didn't feel unsafe, the streets were almost empty (big caveat: I am 6'3" guy). If you're expecting something other than a dorm-room type living situation, you might be disappointed. If you're okay with it, this is a wonderful way to meet people in a convenient location, with extremely considerate and friendly hosts.
