History of a House: See What Our Homestay Friends Have Been Up To!

You may or may not know that our cozy hostel has a long-term homestay for students nearby!  Over the past several months, the travelers and students who have been quarantining there together have been finding ways to keep themselves entertained while San Francisco remains under Shelter-in-Place orders. Most recently, they've created a fun video while in lockdown!

The building they live in has a long history, and they decided to dramatize it all in this movie they created.  As they say in Hollywood, the movie was "inspired" by actual historical events.

At one point the house was owned by Rube Goldberg, the inventor and artist extraordinaire known for his crazy cartoons depicting elaborate machines designed to complete a simple task in the most complicated and creative way possible. According to his granddaughter Jennifer George, with whom we recently spoke, he definitely did not condone the use of the building as a brothel, but this part of history actually happened and is depicted in their movie.
