New Year’s Eve Fireworks on the San Francisco Bay
Date:
Tuesday 31 Dec 2019
Meeting time:
23:00 to get a good spot!
Meeting Place:
What better way to celebrate the New Year than by coming to an amazing new city like San Francisco? Even if you've been here before, it's still a great place to celebrate! There are always lots of parties and fun events but one of the best - and free! - things is to watch fireworks over the Bay. There's really nothing like it, especially with the gorgeous Bay Bridge twinkling in the background. While the Golden Gate Bridge may be more famous, the Bay Bridge really takes the cake at night with over 25,000 LED lights. You'll feel like you're in a movie as you watch an epic fireworks show ring in the New Year. AND, the Embarcadero fireworks show is only 30 minutes walking from our hostel! Be sure to walk down to the water early (even a couple hours) as it's an incredibly popular event so you can get a good spot to stand and look at the show. It will be very crowded. The best place to see the show will be along the Embarcadero between Mission and Folsom Street. If you don't want to deal with the crowds but still would like to see some fireworks, you might also be able to get a good view from Telegraph Hill/Coit Tower (15 minutes walking from our hostel). The fireworks start at 23:29 and last for 15-20 minutes.
