San Francisco Sunset at Palace of Fine Arts & Marina District
Date:
Monday 18 Sep 2017
Meeting time:
6:30pm
Meeting Place:
Hostel common room
One of the most beautiful but often overlooked buildings in all of San Francisco is the Palace of Fine Arts. It was originally built in 1915 for the Panama-Pacific Exposition World’s Fair and was never meant to remain after that. But before the event was even over there was already a Palace Preservation League set up by people who wanted to save it. And thank goodness they did- it’s absolutely gorgeous! It’s also a beautiful place to watch the sunset as the golden light dances against the burnt orange architecture. It’s located just down from the water in the Marina neighborhood, so you aren’t far from a stroll along the Bay or watching the sun go down over Golden Gate Bridge instead. Join Nashwa at the hostel at 6:30pm to head out as a group.
