In the U.S., many workplaces and schools are closed to honor Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Some cities also host events and festivities to celebrate his life and his work. Here in San Francisco, we have a free parade and festival to honor MLK Jr.! Head to 700 4th Street (the Caltrain Station) to watch or join in. Participants will march for 1.5 miles (2.4 km) to Yerba Buena Center of the Arts (701 Mission St), stopping at Oracle Park on the way. Once at Yerba Buena Gardens, parade goers can participate in many activities, including speeches and live music! The festival and is free runs all day long.
