Get ready to celebrate Asian culture big time! The 28th Annual Autumn Moon Festival is back this weekend with two days packed full of exciting entertainment, delicious food, bargain shopping, dragon parades, cultural exhibitions, kids activities, and much more. The festival begins with a grand parade on Saturday and culminates with the famous dragon on Sunday night. Over 100,000 people- local residents and tourists alike- come each year to experience this amazing event. Moon festival celebrations are an Asian tradition dating back over 1000 years. It celebrates a wide array of backgrounds and lifestyles, giving a chance to experience so many different types of culture in one event. Don’t forget to grab a moon cake while you’re there! Millions of these flaky, round, semi-sweet pastries that are filled with bean or lotus-seed paste and topped with a duck egg are gifted each year around this time. The festival is free and happens just outside the hostel’s doors, so there’s no reason to miss it!
