The festival begins with a grand parade on Saturday and culminates with the famous dragon on Sunday night. Over 100,000 people- local residents and tourists alike- come each year to experience this amazing event. Moon festival celebrations are an Asian tradition dating back over 1000 years. It celebrates a wide array of backgrounds and lifestyles, giving a chance to experience so many different types of culture in one event. Don’t forget to grab a moon cake while you’re there! Millions of these flaky, round, semi-sweet pastries that are filled with bean or lotus-seed paste and topped with a duck egg are gifted each year around this time.
