Peer to Peer Car Rentals In Portland

Those who have known me for a while, probably know I'm a huge fan of collaborative consumption.   My thinking is this: we have a limited number of resources on the planet, so we should share the resources we have.   Our parents raised us to share afterall.

 I currently offer my personal car for rent on Getaround whenever I can.   Getaround is a peer to peer car rental site where car owners can make their car available to people who need a car.  

Getaround Provides the Insurance

Getaround handles all the insurance and other legalities.  Even my hostel guests can register at getaround.com.   Once accepted by getaround, they can rent my car or other cars by the hour at rates that are less expensive than other hourly car rental services like ZipCar and CityCarShare and sometimes even less expensive than traditional car rental companies.

However, the reason for this blog post is to tell my friends at the Northwest Portland Hostel that Getaround is coming to Portland.    Getaround can be a great service for travelers who need cars every once in a while.   Let me know if you need more information about Getaround.
