Say the words “Dolores Park” to nearly anyone from San Francisco nd you will likely see the same reaction. A wistful sigh, shoulders drop, twinkle in their eye, a knowing smile and something along the lines of “Oh Dolores. I love that place.” You see, Dolores Park is not just a beautiful park, with an amazing view of the entire city, situated in one of the warmest and sunniest parts of the city, the Mission. No, Dolores also takes on an incredible vibe every sunny day that Karl the Fog stays away (yes, our fog has a name). How could it not when the sprawling green space fills with upwards of 10,000 people? There are picnics, slacklines, drum circles, drinking games, families, hipsters, technies, hippies, you name it. So join us to check out this amazing and super-SF place. Be sure to grab a famous Mission burrito while you're there! Burritos have become famous around the world but it’s a well known secret that the Mission style burrito started in a mom and pop taqueria in, you guessed it, the Mission. Well, it definitely started in a taqueria but which one is hotly debated. Taqueria La Cumbre claims it was them on September 29, 1969, while El Faro says they had it even earlier on September 26, 1961. While the true answer may never be known, the more interesting (and never ending debate) question still stands: Which of the hundreds of taquerias and burrito sellers in the Mission has the BEST burrito? Come with us to eat your way to an answer. Join Katharina at the hostel at 1pm to head to the Mission and grab the holiest of all SF grub. You can ease into your delicious post burrito food coma while hanging in Dolores Park after. Don’t believe us that burritos are a big deal here? Take it from this late night “Overheard in SF”: Guy visiting SF: “What would you do if I threw your burrito?” SF friend: “I’d change all the locks and keep all your luggage.” Take it from that SF friend. You should probably just come try one.
